The market is situated at the west end of the town close to the towns historic harbour.
Originally a non-conformist Weslyan chapel, built in 1845, the building was converted to a shopping arcade in the 1970's and is still known locally as "Pratt's Market" after its founder.
Parking can usually be found outside the market in Chapel terrace, if not there is a Pay & Display car park just across the road.

Due to a fire breaking out at the back of the building on the morning of Thursday 24th. February most trading from the market has had to cease until further notice.

Great News !!!!
The Market will be open again for trading from Monday 12th. July ,with over a dozen traders, including some new ones, resuming business in the front section of the building.
The rear of the building should be reopening at some time in the new year.
